Utica is the heart of the Mohawk Valley and is centrally located in New York State. It is in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, just two hours from the Finger Lake region, and offers the charm of small-city living with a balanced cultural and ethnic diversity population. Situated between Syracuse and Albany, Utica's is a hub for travelers since it is seconds from thruway exit 31. A fun fact about Utica is that it is featured on the TV shows The Office and The Simpsons.

Utica is located in Oneida County, which is dubbed The Getaway Region. Within the county you can fish along the Black River and West Canada Creek, attend the New York State Woodsmen's Field Days, snow shoe and cross country ski on various trails in the region, mountain bike, hike, and so much more. If you prefer a history lesson, there is the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute Museum of Art, the Children's Museum, and the National Distance Running Hall of Fame. Utica also offers professional hockey and soccer teams, attracts theatre lovers with Broadway shows at the Stanley Theater, and you can hear the lion's roar at the Utica Zoo. If you want to play on the beach, you can soak up the sun on Sylvan Beach and enjoy the vast range of places to stay and restaurants along the beach.

Just 45 minutes north of Utica is the start of the Adirondack Park. The park covers one-fifth of New York, is nearly three times the size of Yellowstone National Park, contains over six-million acres of land, and was established in 1892. You can hike the 46 peaks to become an official 46er, take the fire tower challenge by visiting the 25 towers in the park, and enjoy the wide-range of camping that the Adirondacks have to offer. If you like to stay closer to the ground, you can visit over 3,000 lakes and ponds within the six-million acre park.

Within Oneida County, there are 72 schools with over 35,000 students and over 2,500 teachers. While there are a lot of schools to chose from, there are a lot of great schools within the Utica area. The top 10 schools' graduation rate ranges from 75%-100% and they are all within 15 minutes of driving distance to CABVI.
